The City of Mill Creek is seeking volunteers to fill two full-term vacancies & two mid-term vacancies on the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board. The full-term appointments will expire on October 31, 2015 & the mid-term appointments will expire on October 31, 2013.
Parks and Recreation Board meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. All members must be residents of the City of Mill Creek. Do tell.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Park and Recreation Board shall serve as an advisory board to the City Council & the administrative staff concerning the following matters:
- Development, design & operation of park and recreation programming & facilities with exception of final landscaping plan;
- Facility use fees and procedures;
- Capital improvement planning;
- Concessions;
- Interlocal & cooperative use agreements regarding park & recreation activities;
- All matters as from time to time may be referred to the board by the city council, the city manager or administrative staff.

Mill Creek Parks & Recreation Youth Basketball League sign-ups have begun & teams are being formed for the 2012 – 2013 season. Last year’s season was a great success with 743 players competing on 75 teams ranging from kindergarten through eighth grade (both girls and boys). This year we anticipate as many players returning, if not more with our new 9th grade division.
Practices will begin in late November. There will be 1 practice a week for grades K-2, & 2 practices a week for Grades 3rd and up. League games will be played during the day on Saturdays beginning in January 2013. Registration fees are: $125 for Residents & $144 for Non-residents. Register by October 26, 2012 to avoid a $20 late registration fee.
In addition to player sign-ups, Volunteer Coaches & Basketball Referees are needed & Business Sponsorship Opportunities are available. Do tell.
