During the Swim-A-Thon™, these competitive swimmers, who range in age from 7 to 17, will swim for 2 hours or up to 200 lengths of their pool. That’s 3 miles!  And they hope to raise $50,000.00 i the process! Do tell.

“The judging took place on Dec. 18th from 7-9:00.   The winners received a snowflake tree ornament this year.  The 3 Grand Prize winners received a Gorham Silver bell ornament.  We increased this category from 1 to 3 from last year.  Years ago we had 5 or 6 categories & no individual subdivision awards.  They also keep the coveted Elf sign for 2 weeks in their yard.  (the signs are turned back into the MCCA after the first to be used next tear.)  Last years winners were not eligible.  The Judges are past winners & they do not judge their own neighborhood, but get assigned other ones.  The Elf’s had a lot of fun & the winners were very excited.  Do tell.

We appreciate the hardwork, creativity & the gift these families have given our MCCA community. Thank you to the 2013 Elf Judges who were all past recipients of an Elf Award.” — Jac-e & Steve Albertsen

A big thank you to Steve & Jac-e Albertsen, Elf Award Judge Facilitators for providing all the  information & helping to organize the event this year.

Mill Creek Christmas #1

holyberriesSunday, December 1st & I have to admit, I didn’t shop small yesterday, but I tried to make up for it today at one of my favorite home & gift stores, Belle Provence. Picked up some lovely shea butter liquid hand soap by Michel Design Works in a refreshing, seasonal scent, Snowman. If you haven’t tried this line, you must.

Also as part of their Holiday Afternoons at Belle Provence event they were featuring “My Saint My Hero” Blessing Bracelets which are made with medals of St. Benedict.

“Wear this bracelet on your wrist to remind yourself that God has given you a mission to make the world a better place, and that you can choose to fulfill that mission by using your hands to do good.”

Hmmm, one for me, one for a gift. Do tell.

While I was there, I took note of great ideas for friends, family, host/hostess gifts on my list: the wide selection  from the aforementioned – Michel Design Works,  Brighton, Trollbeads, the truly lucious Lafco Candles, Hobo bags & wallets, Spartina 449 handbags & accessories, the Thymes fragrance collections currently featuring, Frasier Fir.

NW Bookfest Coming to Kirkland

nwbookfest-2013posterWhile it may be out of the city limits of Mill Creek, I thought many Mill Creekers would  like to hear about a great event coming up on  November 2nd & 3rd  between 8am-6pm.  Authors from around the Puget Sound region will be converging on Kirkland for the 2013 NWBookfest event: Navigating the Digital Age. This year’s Bookfest will be taking over the state -of -the art Health and Sciences facility on the beautiful Northwest University campus. The Northwest Bookfest is a Bothell non-profit that supports local authors with their authoring, publishing & marketing of their own books. Do Tell.

If you’re a serious writer pursuing a publishing career, or a published author—you might have noticed that the world of publishing as we know it has undergone some serious changes. The advent of the digital reader — i.e. Kindle, Nook, Tablets & Cell Phones — has changed the way people read books. The refrain, “no one will ever read books on a computer” has changed to “how do we get our books to readers who read on devices?” In addition to being able to rub shoulders & network with New York Times Best Selling  Authors, you will be able to attend your choice of 60 high-impact workshops, connect with over 40 exhibitors & attend 15 public panels with some of the local publishing, marketing, and writing influencers.

After the Saturday sessions, enjoy some extra-curricular activities with the NWBookfest Wine and Words events hosted at Park Place Books and  Milagro Restaurant! Come join the fun!

Tickets for the all weekend education & networking event are only $99! There limited number of seats still available, so get your tickets ASAP at www.NWBookfest.com. If you happen to be a Pacific Northwest Writers Association member, you get a $20 discount on the event!

Do Tell Mill Creek thanks NWBookfest for the info, links & poster graphic featured above.

Saturday, October 5 at 2:00 pm on KCPQ FOX channel 13 in Seattle

Mill Creek Town Center is an amazing lifestyle center located in the scenic city of Mill Creek, Washington. Nestled among nature trails & creeks, the outdoor mall has a park-like setting. With over 80 retail stores, boutiques, restaurants & services, you’ll always find friendly service & something unique. Open 7 days a week, the Mill Creek Town Center is located 1/2 mile north of SW 164th Street on Bothell-Everett Hwy in Mill Creek WA. Do Tell.

The Official Best Of originated in January 2007 as a travel TV show & website covering only a few states. Today Official Best Of covers 28 states with the remaining states plus other countries being covered in 2013.

One distinction that sets Official Best Of apart from many other travel sites is that it doesn’t accept advertising on either its television programs or its website. The selection of attractions is by merit, and lesser-known but worthy attractions are given the same attention as famous ones. As with each TV show production, the website www.OfficialBestOf.com offers a great resource for those planning a vacation, day trip or outing for residents within Washington as well as folks all across the country.
