Pacific Northwest District of Kiwanis International, working in concert with citizens of Snohomish County, is forming a Kiwanis Club of Mill Creek. The aim of the new club is to serve the needs of children in Mill Creek & Snohomish County as well as to meet other needs in the community, develop youth leaders, & provide opportunities for leadership, business & social fellowship.
The first pre-organizational meeting will be held in on April 23, 2013, Tuesday, at Volunteers of America, 16300 Motor Place, Lynnwood, WA 98037. The meeting is expected to be held from 7-8PM. Citizens, 18 years or over, interested in improving the community & helping meet the needs of children are welcome to attend the meeting & to become Charter Members of the new Kiwanis Club of Mill Creek. The club is expected to be chartered in May. As a member of Mill Creek Kiwanis, Snohomish County citizens will join over 290,000 Kiwanians in more than 80 nations dedicated to serving children & others in need. The Kiwanis theme is Serving the Children of the World, starting with our own communities.
Some 300,000 young people are working in concert with the over 8500 Kiwanis clubs through K-Kids in elementary school, Builders Club in middle school, Key Club in high school & Circle K in colleges and universities.
The Kiwanis Worldwide Service Project, with UNICEF joined forces to eliminate maternal & neonatal tetanus (MNT) from the face of the Earth. Kiwanis & UNICEF in the past tackled iodine deficiency disorders, achieving one of the most significant public health successes of the 20th century. The ELIMINATE project will reach the poorest, most neglected mothers & babies with additional lifesaving health care. The Pacific Northwest District project is to have a world free of childhood cancer through research and care.
